Randall Jeppesen, KSL NewsradioA new road soon could be under construction to help take traffic off the constantly crowded Lehi's Main Street.

Getting through Main street can be quite the task with all the traffic coming from Saratoga Springs and Eagle Mountain, but UDOT's Jeff Dupaix says it's getting closer to building a brand new East-West corridor from American Fork to Saratoga Springs.

"We could start construction as early as next year, but most likely in 2009," Dupaix said.

UDOT will hold an open house in Lehi next Thursday to take public comments.

For this project, Lehi City is strongly backing the road, unlike the proposed 2100 North connector the city has been openly fighting.
