Tom Callan, KSL NewsradioShort on substitute teachers, Ogden is counting on a bonus to entice more teachers to give the city schools a call.

Ogden is looking for an extra 50 substitute teachers and hopes an extra $6 a day will make the difference.

Ogden School District spokeswoman Donna Corby says, "Ogden, I believe, has increased to $56 unlicensed and $72 licensed, that's the increase."

Corby says the school district needs to add to its substitute bench strength with flu season just around the corner.

She says, "Once the little guys get sick, then so do the teachers."

She says they received three calls by 10 a.m. after the pay increase was announced.
