AMERICAN FORK -- When Lyndsie Miles started having contractions Friday night, she realized her baby due on April Fool's might come on St. Patrick's Day instead.

What she and her husband, Chris Miles didn't expect, however, was where Abigail Lillian Miles would come into the world.

At 9:10 a.m. Saturday, Lyndsie and Chris decided to head to the hospital. The drive from their Lehi home to the American Fork Hospital took 13 minutes, but Lyndsie's labor was more advanced than they had realized.

"Especially when she got close to the hospital, she says, 'I got to go right now,'"Chris said. "We came screeching in here, pulled right in."

During the two or so minutes Chris was inside the hospital getting assistance, Lyndsie realized that it was time to push -- regardless of how near she was to the hospital and her doctor.

"I don't know, I just felt like I just had to push and take her and that's what I did," Lyndsie said.

When Chris walked out to the car, he saw Lyndsie through the window holding Abigail in her arms. He couldn't believe what he saw, and the hospital staff couldn't either.

"There's been others that haven't made it to the room before, but nobody's ever done it in the car," Chris said.

Abigail was born at 9:25 a.m., weighing 7 pounds, 4 ounces and measures 18 and a half inches. She was the couple's fifth child and was the fastest labor for Lyndsie, who was in labor 18 and a half hours with her first baby. Lyndsie says she tried hypnobirthing for this pregnancy, and that the technique helped her deal with the pain.
