(KSL News) A teen accused of murder may have committed the crime to gain respect within a gang.
Twenty-two-year-old Jesus Aparicio was shot and killed outside an Ogden convenience store last month.
During a preliminary hearing yesterday, a detective in the case read a statement from the 15-year-old suspect, which stated he did not want to kill Aparicio, but was egged on by other gang members to do so. He also said that he hoped the act would end teasing about being weak from members of the group.
A judge will now decide if the boy will be tried as an adult.
