MURRAY — Police are looking for two people who shot a man at a Murray apartment complex Thursday night. The victim tells police it happened as he was being robbed.

Police say a man pulled into the parking lot of the Miller Estates Apartment Complex located at 4920 S. Lake Pines Drive in Murray, shortly after 8 p.m. Before he could get out of the car, two men approached his car window in an attempt to rob him. Police say as the man was forced from his vehicle at gunpoint, he tried to run from the two assailants. In the process he was shot in the foot.

Dozens of witnesses called police and said they heard about six shots fired. Police arrived and did not find the victim. A short time later he was found seeking help at Intermountain Medical Center, where someone had dropped him off.

Police questioned the victim at the hospital. He told them he didn't know his attackers and was the victim of a random robbery. But police say that may not be true.

"I think as things play out, as our detectives get further into it, that's not going to be the case," said Sgt. Jake Huggard of the Murray Police Department.

Police say the victim couldn't give a detailed description of the suspects, so they're now asking for the public's help. Anyone with information is asked to call police.

Investigators found luggage scattered around the parking lot that appears to be connected to the robbery. They also learned the vehicle the victim was driving was rented.

The man who was shot is in good condition.
