SALT LAKE CITY -- A teenager who was hit by a car while trick-or-treating in Weber County has died from his injuries.

Jayden Rathbone, 13, had been receiving treatment at Primary Children's Medical Center since the accident Halloween night. The Standard-Examiner reports he passed away Saturday. At one point, police had said he was expected to recover.

Rathbone was hit near 6600 South and 2300 East in the town of Uintah.

Lt. Matthew Bell with the Weber County Sheriff's Office said at the time that Rathbone was walking on a very dark part of the street, which had no sidewalk, when he was hit.

The Examiner reports the investigation into Rathbone's death has concluded. The 71-year-old woman who was driving the car that hit him is not expected to face charges.

In West Jordan, two teenage girls also were hit Halloween night. They suffered serious injuries but were expected to recover.

The girls as well as Rathbone were said to be wearing dark clothing at the time of the accidents.
