SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The Utah Jazz and their fans are honoring N-B-A champion Karl Malone tonight.
Malone announced his retirement from the N-B-A last year. But he remains a legendary champion in Utah. So this afternoon, a larger-than-life statue will be unveiled outside the Delta Center on the Plaza.
Then tonight, during halftime of the Utah Jazz home game against Washington, the mailman's jersey, number 32, will be officially retired.
Malone's retired uniform will be raised to the rafters of the basketball arena, joining the jerseys of the late Pistol Pete Maravich, Darrell Griffith, Mark Eaton, Jeff Hornacek and long-time teammate John Stockton.
Malone is the number two all-time scorer in the N-B-A.
