SALT LAKE CITY -- There's Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Blogger and more in the presidential campaigns - and now Mitt Romney is quietly gathering people to his own social network called "My Mitt."
Micah Sifry, with the Personal Democracy Forum and TechPresident.com says you can get to "My Mitt" through the action section on Romney's page.
"I think the campaign is playing it down right now," Sifry said.
It's not heavily promoted, but there are 100,000 people signed up so far. It lets people create their own fundraisers or phone banks, and connect with other Romney volunteers.
"People are more willing to listen to, watch or read something from someone they know," Sifry said. "The more you invest those super-volunteers in your supporter base, the further that should carry you."

"My Mitt" appears to be unique in presidential race. Sifry says no other candidate is doing something like this right now, though President Obama did create his own social network during the 2008 campaign.
Over 2 million people joined Obama's social network, and it eventually generated $70 million for his campaign.
Romney's attempt at social networking isn't to that point yet. But it is getting things going.
"This is really more about giving Romney supporters the tools they need to do useful things for the campaign, like fundraising and phone banking."
