SANDY -- Local gamers will have a chance to get their hands on some unreleased video games made right here in Utah. The GEEX Gaming and Electronics Expo kicks off today.
If you're an avid gamer, you've heard the name Twisted Metal. If you haven't heard of it, it's an extremely popular game where players pick their favorite car and face off against other drivers, all the while shooting at each other with some of the craziest weapons you've ever seen.
The eighth installment of the franchise, Twisted Metal PS3, isn't going to be released until Valentine's Day. But, that doesn't mean you can't play it today.

"We're going to have 16 different stations with playable versions of Twisted Metal [PS3], which is an unreleased game," said organizer John Sloan.
Sloan says other local game makers like EA Salt Lake and Epic Games will have full sized booths this year. Epic Games and Chair Entertainment will show off their unreleased Infinity Blade II.
"Fortunately, they just announced Infinity Blade II at the latest Apple convention a couple weeks ago," he said. "So, this is going to be the first venue where you can get a hands-on look at Infinity Blade II."
In addition to the LAN parties they've had in recent years, they're also having tournaments for Starcraft 2 and Gears of War 3.
"Epic Games is also sponsoring the Gears of War 3 tournament for us. So, they sent out five consoles signed by the development staff."
Why has this convention become so popular? Well, we here in Utah love our games.
John Sloan: "Salt Lake has the most [gaming] consoles per capita out of any state in the United States. That's according to Scarborough [Research]."
The GEEX Gaming and Electronics Expo goes from today through tomorrow at the South Towne Expo Center.
