WEST JORDAN -- Elizabeth Smart helped cut the ribbon for a new comprehensive health care clinic in the Salt Lake Valley.
Smart was there to celebrate and raise awareness for her new organization -- Elizabeth Smart Foundation -- which has been established to protect children who are being threatened, bullied, forced or coerced into doing something they don't want to do.
Putting her support behind radKIDS, which teaches children to recognize, avoid and escape dangerous situations, Smart hopes others won't be put in a dangerous situation through organizations established to protect children.
"A lot of people have said, ‘How can you put the responsibility on the child?' " Smart said. "But it's not about that, but how could you do everything possible to save a child."
As the clinic doors were opened, families were invited in for a health fair, which offered free screenings, and a 5K race.
