SALT LAKE CITY — Authorities broke up what they say was a vast DVD and music CD pirating ring with the arrest of four men this week.

The Utah Attorney General's Secure Strike Force seized more than 5,000 discs worth at least $70,000 on Wednesday. Agents also confiscated fraudulent identification cards from the four men who are illegal immigrants.

"This was a very large, multistate operation that was dismantled after long-term surveillance by the Secure Strike Force," Utah Attorney General Mark Shurtleff said in a news release. Investigators worked on the case with the Recording Industry Association, FBI, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Park City police.

"This investigation required a great deal of time and special investigators with forensic accounting skills to crack the case," said Leo Lucey, strike force commander.

The four men — Diego Perez-Gonzales, 32; Gregorio Perez-Gonzalez, 52; Zaul Perez-Paredes, 24, and Osvaldo Perez-Paredes, 30 — were arrested in two West Valley homes.
