Coco Warner ReportingJay Fullmer has been involved with boxing since the age of five, and now he and his two brothers run a non-profit boxing gym in West Jordan. His son Chet wanted to see his dad's efforts recognized.

"You got a ton of kids, at risk kids that could be out in the streets doing stuff that could be detrimental to society. And you with Uncle Don and Gene come down here every night, put a ton of hours in, and I just thought you deserved to be recognized for it," Chet said.

About boxing, Jay said, "I know how much it helped us guys when we were kids." The sport teaches many things: endurance, toughness and a never quit attitude! It also helps Jay stay connected to the youth.

"I mean he has to have that self-esteem. Boxing is probably the best sport that can do that," Jay said.

The brothers run the gym in the old West Jordan fire station. It's open Monday through Friday, 6 to 8:30 p.m. and all that's required to train there is hard work.

Another a plus for those who train with the Fullmer's is that Jay's brother Gene was a world middleweight champion!
