SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Utah nuclear waste processor EnergySolutions Inc. has been fined $80,000 for exceeding the state's hazardous level for radioactive waste

The Utah Radiation Control Board fined EnergySolutions on Thursday for burying 23 containers of low-level radioactive waste.

EnergySolutions CEO Val Christensen said in a statement that they reported the violation in December after it was discovered at its Clive, Utah landfill.

Company officials say adjustments have been made to help prevent similar cases from happening again.
