(KSL News) The Salt Lake City Council will vote Tuesday on a proposal to lower residential landscaping requirements, in the interest of saving water.
If approved, residents will be required to landscape only one-third of their front and side yards. The remaining portion would need to be covered with bark or other material to prevent weeds and erosion.
Advocates also hope the change would result in less air and noise pollution from yard work.
The current ordinance requires the entire front and side yards to be landscaped.
