(KSL News) -- Derek Parra, the Olympic speedskater who won gold and silver in 2002, is now struggling to make the 2006 Olympic Team.
Derek Parra, Olympic Gold medalist: "Different time then you know. I was on my way up the ladder. My daughter was just born...there was lot of emotion, positive emotion going on...The last six or seven months its been real negative emotion"
Parra revealed today he is in the middle of a painful divorce. It has taken a toll on him mentally and physically. So far he has not managed to qualify for an individual Olympic event.

Derek Parra, Olympic Gold medalist: " Theres so many things going on in my head and in my heart that have hindered me in my skating even today...I just gotta find a way to get it out of my head for a least a minute and 45 seconds, or 44 seconds so I can make it to Torino again."
Parra still has a couple more chances. The Olympic Trials are going on at the Utah Oval and his best event -- the 15-hundred meter race -- will be on Friday.
