(KSL News) A suspicious package forced police to shut down several blocks of downtown Salt Lake this afternoon.
Police received a call just before noon that there was an unattended green suitcase outside of the Carl's Jr. Restaurant on State Street and 200 South. Not taking any chances, police evacuated the restaurant and shut down a two-square block area.
The bomb squad was called in and used a robotic device to detonate the suitcase. Turns out, the case contained a trumpet or what used to be a trumpet! The streets were re-opened about 2:00 this afternoon.
