SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- An upcoming fundraiser will use "Speed Dating" as a way to raise money for the House Republican Caucus -- but some call it a bad idea.

An e-mail was recently sent to legislators and lobbyists asking them to attend a fundraiser in January that involves "Speed Dating."

The idea is lobbyists would be able to get a "date" with a member of the Utah House of Representatives for a few minutes -- as long as they donate to their political action committee.

Organizers say the idea is simply a fun, new way to raise campaign cash. However, some House members say allowing lobbyists to buy access, no matter how brief, is a bad idea. Representative Kory Holdaway calls it "disgusting" and thinks it's absurd.

The fundraiser is set for January fifth. The price to attend, a location or definite rules have NOT yet be set.
