SALT LAKE CITY -- Candidates for Utah's 2nd Congressional District seat debated Wednesday morning on KSL's "The Doug Wright Show."

Rep. Jim Matheson and his Republican opponent, Morgan Philpot, debated over what it means to "work together" in Washington.

"I clearly have the reputation of someone who works with people on both sides of the isle in very effective ways," Matheson said.

"In reality we want somebody right now who will bicker more with people like Nancy Pelosi; because right now an agenda is being crammed down America's throat," Philpot said.

Philpot accused Matheson of not meeting regularly with his constituents and not standing up to other Democrats in Congress.

Matheson said he puts Utahns concerns first and has a history of acting independent of his party.
