(KSL News) -- Some local students are learning an important lesson about service outside the classroom.

About 170 kids from the McGillis School fanned out around the neighborhood to help neighbors clean up their leaves.

The school made flyers for neighbors to put on their homes and the school also had a list of elderly neighbors that needed assistance.

The "leaf haul" has become an annual tradition and it's all part of the school's service learning program to teach kids social responsiblity.
