SALT LAKE CITY -- There's been a possible break in a 15-year-old Salt Lake City murder case.
Friday, Salt Lake detectives released a composite sketch of a man they want to interview about the 1995 murder of Rosa Tapia.
Police believe the man carried the 6-year-old from the playground to her apartment the night before she was abducted from her bed and then murdered.
A witness described that man as approximately 30 years old, with a dark complexion. The witness said the man was 5 feet 9 inches tall.
Anyone who may recognize the man is asked to call Salt Lake police at 801-799-3000.
Rosa was last seen at her home at 1601 Snow Queen Place on Aug. 15, 1995. Rosa's mother last checked on her at 2 a.m. as the girl was sleeping in her bed. At 5:45 a.m. the girl was missing from her room and the bedroom window was removed.
Less than five hours later, the girl's body was found in a canal near 1900 South and 1600 West. An autopsy revealed Rosa had been sexually assaulted.
