(KSL News) -- 8,500 pairs of shoes: That's how many are needed to represent the amount of people per day who lose their battle with AIDS worldwide.

More than 100 volunteers laid out shoes today and are reaching out to state legislators to demand that they contribute financially to help stop AIDS.
The shoes were donated by corporations, health organizations, student groups, and individuals. They will be auctioned off for free or people can contribute donations.
