PROVO -- The Provo Municipal Council has passed an ordinance changing the proximity restriction for off-premises beer retailers.

The Daily Herald reports places like convenience stores must now be 220 feet away from any school, church, public library, public playground or public park. The previous ordinance required off-premise beer sales to be 500 feet from those places.

A spokeswoman for Provo City said it just made sense to align the city with the rest of the state.
