SALT LAKE CITY -- Businesses along North Temple have sent a clear message to Salt Lake City leaders: "We're not paying for the new viaduct."
The city proposed assessing the businesses $2.3 million in fees to help cover some of the costs to improve the road. That would have figured out to be $110 per foot for each property.
The Deseret News reports the city received almost 60 letters protesting the fee -- meeting the requirement to overturn the assessment.
Salt Lake City leaders have hinted the city may pull some of its funding from the project now that it doesn't have financial support from the businesses.
