SYRACUSE -- An odor forced a family out of their home in Syracuse Sunday night.
The home near 2300 South and 3500 West was one of three houses sprayed with pesticide on Saturday. Early Sunday evening the homeowners noticed a strange, chemical smell in their house. They borrowed their neighbor's carbon monoxide detector, and its alarm went off.
They contacted emergency crews, who told the family to evacuate.
Teams from several agencies went through the home, but after hours of testing could not identify a lethal gas linked with a pesticide.
The home is being ventilated as crews work to identify the cause of the smell.
