SALT LAKE CITY -- Families celebrated Christmas in July Friday at a Salt Lake City homeless shelter.
Santa and Mrs. Claus made an appearance at The Road Home, handing out games, toys, books, back-to-school items and clothing.
For the last 19 years, the Salt Lake Board of Realtors has sponsored the celebration.
"We see a drop in our volunteers and contributions during the summer months, so this is a really nice boost for us," said Celeste Eggert, director of development at The Road Home shelter.
The Road Home estimates 15,000 people in Utah are homeless.
