SALT LAKE CITY -- Dozens of students who've done a lot of reading this summer got rewarded Thursday.

Students from North Star Elementary School took the Read Today Summer Reading Challenge. As one of the top schools the Read Today Summer Reading Challenge, they got this summer's Read Today shake from the Iceberg Drive Inn.
It was a sweet treat, no doubt, but the students agree reading is its own reward.
"It was so fun to read!" one student said.
Another told KSL News, "Now I read books every day, every time I want. I mean, I don't do anything else. Reading's my favorite thing to do."

North Lake Elementary School Assistant Principal Rebecca Pittam said, "It's a little reward. It tells them they're doing something important, we're proud of you."
Students from Park View Elementary School in Salt Lake also got a shake field trip, and our top school, North Lake Elementary School in Tooele, will get one next week.
Now here's the next challenge: The 100 students who read the most minutes between now through the Fourth of July will also get a free shake. So, sign your kids up for the Read Today Summer Reading Challenge and track their minutes HERE.
