SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A fire at a Salt Lake City park's livery stable has killed at least a dozen baby animals.
An employee discovered the building on fire after arriving for work early this morning at the This is the Place Heritage Park.
Park spokeswoman Tresha Kramer says the barn housed pigs, sheep, goats, a peacock and other small fowl, and was one of the park's most popular attractions.
She says some animals were able to escape the burning building.
The damaged building was demolished later in the day, and plans already are under way to rebuild the structure.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The park temporarily closed a pony ride and petting corral adjacent to the stable until further notice. But the rest of the park remains open.
