HILL AIR FORCE BASE -- Hundreds of airmen will celebrate a very special Memorial Day at home.
Approximately 300 airmen from the 388th and 419th Fighter Wings touched down at Hill Air Force Base Friday after a nearly five-month deployment to Afghanistan.
Capt. Tommy Reynolds said, "Seeing everyone greeting us is a real treat. Like I said, there's nothing like it."
Katie Reynolds, Capt. Reynolds' wife, said, "It's unbelievable. I've been waiting for this day since he left; it's what's gotten me through his deployment, him coming home.
In January, F-16 jets, pilots, maintainers and personnel assigned to the 34th Fighter Squadron, 34th Aircraft Maintenance Unit, and other 388th and 419th Fighter Wing squadrons deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Their primary mission was to maintain security and stability in the region by providing close air support for coalition ground troops.
The deployment marks the second time F-16's from the base have deployed to the country during Operation Enduring Freedom.
