(KSL News) -- Utah Governor John Huntsman was honored today with the Legacy Award for his support of Organ donation.

Members of the Utah Coalition for Organ, Eye and Tissue Donation presented the award. They said the Governor has repeatedly brought awareness to the cause and is working with Senator Karen Hale on a bill to make it easier for living donors to give the gift of life

Joan Arata, Pres. Utah Coalition for Organ, Eye and Tissue Donation: "Last year he helped us with passage of the tax credit for living donors where they can recoup some of their costs or expenses for donating an organ."

Utah is one of only a few states where Living Donors can expense up to 10-thousand dollars for incidental donation costs like lost wages and travel.
