SALT LAKE CITY -- Monday night, KSL 5 News compared the salaries of the Utah Transit Authority's top executives with others across the country. UTA's top brass is making top dollars, and it's Utah taxpayer money.
But a former lawmaker and president of the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce says we're getting our money's worth.
"We are not comparable to any other place in this country about transit. We are so far better than anyone that is delivering right now," Lane Beattie says.
UTA CEO John Inglish's pay tops the salaries of his counterparts in Chicago, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Washington, D.C., Denver and San Francisco.
Despite Beattie's comments, several community activists tell KSL they think the UTA executive salaries are excessive.
