SALT LAKE CITY -- March 23 was the day thousands of Utahns waited for: It marked the release of the fifth and final book in the Fablehaven series.
Tuesday night's launch party looked more like a rock concert. Nearly 3,000 Utah kids and their parents -- some dressed as Fablehaven characters -- crammed into the Cottonwood High School auditorium to celebrate the release.
Local author Brandon Mull says he's glad his work has become so popular with kids.
"If you can get kids reading for fun, pretty soon they'll read anything, you know what I mean?" Mull says. "antasy books have enough imagination that it will lure them in, and even compete with TV and movies and video games and stuff like that."
Each of the Fablehaven books has made the New York Times bestseller list.
