SALT LAKE CITY -- Salt Lake County Sheriff Jim Winder announced Tuesday he is running for re-election.
"Some will inevitably disagree in the choices I have made over the past four years, but none can say I haven't done what I thought was right for every citizen, regardless of who they are -- rich, poor, white, black, city, county, Democrat or Republican; and it is in that vein that I will continue," Winder said.
The sheriff announced his candidacy in front of the Oxbow Jail, which was reopened during his administration.
He faces a challenge from Cottonwood Heights police Officer Beau Babka.
