Antetokounmpo, Middleton out for Bucks game vs Wizards

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Giannis Antetokounmpo (YAH'-nihs an-teh-toh-KOON'-poh) and Khris Middleton won't be playing tonight when the Milwaukee Bucks host the Washington Wizards. Middleton will miss a second straight game due to a sore left wrist. Antetokounmpo will be out for the second time in the last three games because of a sore right knee. He wasn't available for the 138-119 loss at Minnesota on Saturday. The two-time MVP returned to action Tuesday and had 25 points and 17 rebounds in a 126-98 victory over the Chicago Bulls.

TORONTO (AP) — The Toronto Blue Jays have traded outfielder Randal Grichuk and just over $9.7 million to the Colorado Rockies for outfielder Raimel Tapia and minor league infielder Adrian Pinto. The 29-year-old Grichuk hit .241 with 22 homers and 81 RBIs last season. The 28-year-old Tapia hit .273 with 50 RBIs and 20 stolen bases in 133 games. The free agent signing of infielder/outfielder Kris Bryant had a big impact on Tapia. He was penciled in as the team's left fielder before Bryant's arrival.

PHOENIX (AP) — Right-handed pitcher Zach Davies has agreed to a one-year deal with the Arizona Diamondbacks that includes a mutual option for the 2023 season. The Diamondbacks hope Davies can have a bounce-back season after a rough 2021 when he was 6-12 with a 5.78 ERA for the Chicago Cubs and the led the National League with 75 walks. The 29-year-old had a 3.79 ERA over his first six MLB seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers and San Diego Padres. He'll compete for a spot in the starting rotation behind Madison Bumgarner, Zac Gallen and Merrill Kelly.

PEORIA, Ariz. (AP) — The Seattle Mariners have bolstered their bullpen signing veteran right-hander Sergio Romo to a one-year contract. The deal was finalized following a physical and is for $2 million. Adding another proven right-hander to the bullpen became a major need for Seattle after Casey Sadler was lost for the season when he required shoulder surgery. The 39-year-old spent last season with Oakland, the sixth different team in his career. Romo had his greatest success during his nine seasons with San Francisco. Romo has also pitched for Tampa Bay, the Los Angeles Dodgers, Miami and Minnesota.

ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) — Bob Baffert has transferred four of his promising 3-year-old colts to other trainers, which will allow them to earn qualifying points for the Kentucky Derby while the Hall of Fame trainer appeals his 90-day suspension. Baffert transferred Messier, Doppelganger and McLaren Vale to trainer Tim Yakteen, who is based at Santa Anita. Blackadder was sent to Kentucky to train under Rudolphe Brisset. All four colts are owned by SF Racing LLC and others. The moves came four days after a Kentucky judge denied Baffert's request to stay his 90-day suspension but delayed it until April 4.
