CINCINNATI (AP) — The Reds claimed right-handed reliever Abel De Los Santos off waivers from the Washington Nationals on Tuesday and optioned him to Double-A Pensacola.
The 23-year-old pitcher was 1-1 with five saves and a 3.67 ERA in 29 appearances at Double-A and Triple-A this season.
The Reds need help in their bullpen. The bullpen has a 5.49 ERA, allowing 66 homers and 186 walks, by far the most in the majors.
