UNDATED (AP) — There are nine championship games in college football on Saturday. The day kicks off with two midday games in the Big 12 and Sun Belt and the final two games of the day will settle the title in the Big Ten and ACC. Some of the games could impact the four-team playoff field that will be announced Sunday. No. 5 Oklahoma and No. 6 Ohio State need to win and both hope top-ranked Alabama beats No. 4 Georgia, too. The Sooners faces Texas and Ohio State will play Northwestern.

ATLANTA (AP) — As soon as Alabama and Georgia walked off the field at Mercedes-Benz Stadium almost 11 months ago, a rematch seemed inevitable. Now, it's here. The top-ranked Crimson Tide faces No. 4 Georgia in the SEC championship game, looking for another win over the team it beat in an overtime classic to capture last season's national title.

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — Nick Weatherspoon hit a pair of 3-pointers in the closing minutes, and No. 25 Mississippi State trailed most of the game before rallying to a 65-58 victory over Dayton. The Bulldogs salvaged their first true road game by hitting late 3s after missing 15 of their first 19 tries from behind the arc.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Akron coach Terry Bowden saw something he liked in South Carolina's Will Muschamp when he hired him as an Auburn graduate football assistant in the mid-1990s. Bowden says Muschamp has proven his instincts correct. The coaches will meet Saturday in a makeup game when the Zips play at the Gamecocks. South Carolina's home contest with Marshall in mid-September was canceled due to Hurricane Florence. Akron's season opener at Nebraska was called off because of lightning and strong storms.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina's A.J. Lawson and Hassani Gravett each notched a career-high in points as the Gamecocks held on to beat Coastal Carolina 85-79. Lawson was scoreless in South Carolina's last game, but with preseason All-SEC selection Chris Silva again in early foul trouble Friday, he shouldered the scoring load with 25 points against the Chanticleers.
