The Golden Bears lost their perfect record and quarterback Chase Garbers to a right shoulder injury, spoiling their highest ranking in a decade.

BERKELEY, Calif. (AP) — California quarterback Chase Garbers left the game against Arizona State in the second quarter with an apparent right arm injury. Garbers got hurt when he landed on his throwing arm on a scramble late in the second quarter for the 15th-ranked Golden Bears. There was no immediate word on the extent of the injury.

SEATTLE (AP) — USC put its season back on an upward trajectory after an upset of Utah. Now the 21st-ranked Trojans face one of their biggest road tests of the year against No. 17 Washington on Saturday. Matt Fink is expected to be USC's third starting quarterback after he threw for 351 yards and three touchdowns when Kedon Slovis was injured early against the Utes.

UNDATED (AP) — The Cougars and Utes head into Saturday's game in Salt Lake City coming off disheartening losses. Washington State imploded in a 67-63 loss at home to UCLA. The previously winless Bruins scored 50 points in 19 minutes, rallying from a 32-point deficit. Utah dropped from No. 10 to No. 19 in the rankings after its 30-23 loss to the Trojans last week at the Coliseum. USC won despite having to turn to its third-string quarterback.

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — UCLA is hoping to keep its focus against Arizona after an epic comeback against Washington State. The Bruins rallied from a 32-point second-half deficit to beat the Cougars 67-63. Arizona is coming off one of its best games of the year and had a week off to prepare for UCLA.

UNDATED (AP) — The Stanford Cardinal will likely look to tight end Colby Parkinson when they visit Oregon State on Saturday. Parkinson caught four touchdown passes against the Beavers last season. Stanford has lost three straight games, including last weekend's 21-6 loss at home against No. 13 Oregon. Oregon State is coming off a bye.
