AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Sam Ehlinger ran for a touchdown and passed for another before leaving with a shoulder injury, and the Texas defense smothered Iowa State freshman quarterback Brock Purdy in a 24-10 victory Saturday night that pushed the Longhorns closer to a berth in the Big 12 championship game. The win keeps No. 13 Texas in second place in the Big 12 and on track to play in the conference title game they win at Kansas next week.

STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) — Taylor Cornelius passed for 338 yards, ran for 106 more and threw a touchdown to Tylan Wallace with 42 seconds remaining to rally Oklahoma State past No. 7 West Virginia, 45-41. West Virginia quarterback Will Grier led the Mountaineers down to the Oklahoma State 14-yard line but couldn't connect with David Sills V on the final play. The loss all but ended West Virginia's shot at the College Football Playoff. Oklahoma State became bowl eligible with the victory.

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — Kyler Murray accounted for two of his five touchdowns in the fourth quarter to help No. 6 Oklahoma survive Kansas freshman running back Pooka Williams Jr.'s big game in a 55-40 victory.

MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) — Skylar Thompson returned from a concussion to throw for 213 yards and a touchdown, Blake Lynch hit four field goals and Kansas State's defense grounded high-flying Texas Tech in a 21-6 victory Saturday. Alex Barnes added 136 yards rushing for the Wildcats (5-6, 3-5 Big 12), who kept alive their bowl hopes by beating the Red Raiders (5-6, 3-5) for the seventh time in their last eight meetings. Texas Tech still hasn't won in Manhattan since 2008.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger did not return to the game against Iowa State after halftime and the team said his return was questionable. Ehlinger took a hard hit on his right shoulder on a run in the final seconds of the first half.

WACO, Texas (AP) — Jalen Reagor turned a short pass into a 65-yard score and later had a 37-yard touchdown on a fourth-and-1 reverse run as TCU beat Baylor 16-9. The loss kept the Bears from reaching bowl eligibility in their home finale. TCU can now get to a bowl for the 16th time in coach Gary Patterson's 18 seasons with a win at home next Saturday against Oklahoma State.

LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — Les Miles is in negotiations with Kansas to take over the down-trodden Jayhawks, a person with knowledge of the discussions told The Associated Press. The person spoke on condition of anonymity to the AP because the deal is not complete. Sports Illustrated was the first to report that Miles and Kansas athletic director Jeff Long were discussing a contract. Miles led LSU to the 2007 national championship before getting fired four games into the 2016 season.
