FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) — George Mason has extended coach Dave Paulsen's contract for another year through the 2020-21 season.

Athletic director Brad Edwards announced the extension Wednesday. Edwards said it a way to recognize Paulsen's work of getting the men's basketball program "back on firm footing" in his first season as the Patriots' coach.

George Mason went 11-21 but had an Atlantic 10 all-rookie team pick in guard Otis Livingston II, who started all 32 games and averaged 11.9 points.

Before taking over at George Mason, Paulsen won four regular-season Patriot League titles as the coach at Bucknell.
