GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) — East Carolina has extended baseball coach Cliff Godwin's contract by three years.
The deal announced Friday by the school runs through the 2022 season.
Godwin has taken the Pirates to the NCAA Tournament in each of his two seasons and guided them to the Lubbock Super Regional this year. East Carolina won the American Athletic Conference Tournament in 2015.
Athletic director Jeff Compher says Godwin "has proven he was born to be ECU's head baseball coach."
Godwin says he won't be satisfied "until we get Pirate Nation to Omaha" for the College World Series.
