WASHINGTON (AP) — After helping the Washington Capitals win their first-round playoff series against the New York Islanders, backup goalie Philipp Grubauer has been re-assigned to Hershey of the American Hockey League.

The move was announced Tuesday, a day after the Capitals eliminated the Islanders with a 2-1 victory in Game 7.

On April 17, Grubauer was called up from the minors and became the first German-born goalie to start in the NHL playoffs, replacing an ill Braden Holtby in the Capitals' 4-3 victory in Game 2.
