BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) — Shaquille Hines recorded 18 points and Shaquille Boga 12 as Texas-Pan American withstood a Cal State Bakersfield comeback and won 63-61 on Thursday night.

Texas-Pan American (9-20, 5-9 Western Athletic Conference) jumped far in front of the Roadrunners in the first period, leading by as many as 18 points before settling for a 36-20 halftime lead.

CS Bakersfield (12-16, 5-9) nibbled at that lead in the second period, eventually tying it at 46 on a 13-2 run which included three successive 3-pointers from Javonte Maynor.

Neither team could pull away down the stretch and the score was tied at 59 with 28 seconds left. Issiah Grayson's free throws put CSUB up by two, but seconds later, Hines responded with a trey and Texas-PA led 62-61. A Roadrunner missed layup and turnover in the waning seconds sealed the win for Texas-PA.

Maynor scored 15 and Grayson 12 for CSUB.
