The UCLA Bruins opened camp yesterday in L.A., while the Washington Huskies went through their second day of workouts Tuesday in Seattle.

Today, the Cougars work out at 10:00am. It's the final practice in "shells" (helmets and shoulder pads).

Responding to a couple of questions posted by readers in yesterday's post-practice entry...

Regarding the question about BYU's offensive line matching up with Northern Iowa:

Northern Iowa returns 3 of 4 starting defensive linemen from last season, including a tackle (Mark Huygens) who has been selected as a preseason FCS All-American. The Panthers allowed fewer than 92 rush yards per game last season. Left to right, UNI's projected starters go 255, 290, 277 and 265 across the front.

Regarding Tom Sorenson's chances of eventually returning this season to play as a first stringer:

Until we find out what Sorenson's definite plans are relative to possible surgery and recovery time, it's hard to say right now. I would guess that knowing the ability and potential of the players being asked to step up in his absence, it would be tough for Sorenson to regain his starting spot this season.
