WASHINGTON (AP) — Like clockwork, daylight saving time strikes again this weekend. Watch for it at 2 a.m. local time Sunday in most of the United States. Don't forget to set your clocks an hour ahead, usually before bed Saturday night, to avoid being late for Sunday morning activities. With the annual change, sunlight will extend longer into the evening, but the shine will take longer to emerge in the morning. No time change is observed in Hawaii, most of Arizona, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam and the Northern Marianas. Standard time returns Nov. 1.

BEIJING (AP) — Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte has announced that the entire region of Lombardy and a number of provinces in other regions have been put under lockdown as the coronavirus continued to spread throughout the country. After midnight Sunday, Conte signed a decree that imposes the new restrictions. The entry and exit to and from these areas will be allowed only in exceptional cases. The new measures will apply to about a quarter of the Italian population and will be in force at least until April 3.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Officials in Washington, D.C., say a man in his 50s has tested positive for coronavirus, marking the first presumptively confirmed case in the nation’s capital. District of Columbia Mayor Muriel Bowser said Saturday that the man started exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 in late February and was hospitalized Thursday. She said another man, from Nigeria, who had passed through Washington has also tested positive for the virus in Maryland. President Donald Trump says he isn't concerned “at all” about the coronavirus getting closer to the White House after the first Washington case and an attendee of a recent political conference where Trump himself had spoken also tested positive for the virus.

NEW YORK (AP) — A federal official says the White House overruled health officials who wanted to recommend that elderly and physically fragile Americans be advised not to fly on commercial airlines because of the new coronavirus. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention submitted the plan this week as a way of trying to control the virus, but White House officials ordered the air travel recommendation be removed. That’s according to a federal official with direct knowledge of the plan who did not have authorization to talk about the matter and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.

PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — President Donald Trump is refusing to commit to continue holding off on hitting Brazil with tariffs on imports of its aluminum and steel. Trump spoke Saturday in the presence of Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro. Trump is hosting Bolsonaro for dinner at his resort home in Palm Beach, Florida. Trump had threatened to impose tariffs late last year, but then backed off. Asked about the tariffs, Trump said he always wants to help Brazil. But when asked if his interest in helping Brazil meant no new tariffs, Trump replied: “I don't make any promises.”
