SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (AP) — Students in Southfield Public Schools will get updated classroom technology and e-book accounts this fall.
The district says it is spending nearly $3 million on the e-book accounts, iPads for each teacher, new computers, Apple TVs and digital data projectors.
Students in middle and high school will have online access to district curriculum, videos, discussion threads, interactive social studies mapping modules and a proof-reading program to improve writing.
Curriculum director George Chapp says that unlike traditional texts, the e-book materials will be updated continuously.
There are 16 schools in the 7,085-student Southfield district, which is located just north of Detroit in Oakland County.
