SWEET BRIAR, Va. (AP) — Sweet Briar College's decision to close continues to roil the central Virginia campus.
A sit-in protest was held outside the president's house on Friday to recognize the 300 workers who will lose their jobs when the school closes.
The News and Advance (http://bit.ly/1FaCl16 ) reports that dozens of students and faculty members joined in the protest.
President James Jones shocked students, faculty and alumnae last month when he announced the 114-year-old school would close this summer.
A lawsuit filed by the Amherst County attorney charges that a closure would violate the terms of the will under which the school was founded.
The suit seeks to stop the closure and replace the school's president and board with a fiduciary to take over the school's assets.
