Mini-parks designed by artists pop up in Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Salt Lake City has five new temporary parks created by artists.

The distinctly different spaces feature landscaping, flowers and seating. They are located along Main Street from South Temple to 200 South, and opened on Saturday.

Officials with the nonprofit Downtown Alliance say the 8-by-20-foot wide spaces are located on sidewalks and designed to encourage people to explore the city on foot.

The local artists used a $3,000 stipend to design and build the parks, which are open through Mother's Day, May 10.
