OXFORD, Miss. (AP) — A man who pleaded guilty to making threats against Oxford High School has been sentenced to six years in prison.
Prosecutors say Joshua Brandon Pillault made the threats in a chat room for an online medieval fantasy and role-playing strategy game called "Runescape." Another player reported the threats in October 2012.
Pillault pleaded guilty to one count of making threats in interstate and foreign commerce last June.
The Oxford Eagle reports (http://bit.ly/1iA4toK ) that Pillault was sentenced this past week in federal court in Oxford.
U.S. District Judge Michael P. Mills recommended Pillault be placed in a medical facility for undetermined amount of time to receive mental health treatment and participate in a long-term drug and alcohol program.
Where Pillault is placed will be up to the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
