MORGAN, Utah (AP) — Authorities say they've recovered the body of a 34-year-old Salt Lake County man who apparently drowned while trying to rescue a child in the East Canyon Reservoir.
Utah parks officials say Ismael Segundo's body was found in 20 or 30 feet of water on Saturday night, not far from where he and his girlfriend had been fishing in East Canyon State Park.
Officials say one of the girlfriend's children was swimming near the shore and needed help, so she joined Segundo and another child in heading over.
Segundo went missing during the pursuit.
Divers found his body about two hours after a formal search began. It's been turned over to the Morgan County Sheriff's medical examiner.
