JACKSON, Mich. (AP) — The annual Jackson Rose Festival Rose Parade will feature a 2-year-old liver transplant recipient as its grand marshal.
Oscar Curtis will ride with his parents, Alicia and Jeremy, during the 56th annual event that starts at 1 p.m. Sunday in Jackson.
The boy's older brothers and grandparents will walk alongside the grand marshal's car.
The Jackson Citizen Patriot has reported that Oscar was diagnosed in infancy with biliary atresia, a rare liver disease. The boy has undergone open-heart surgery and blood transfusions. He received a new liver in January at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital at the University of Michigan.
