LEHI — Thirty-five students at Lehi Elementary School took home the "Good Humans" award.
Teachers and staff nominated the students for their kind acts — helping in the classroom or showing a new student around the school.
“We wanna celebrate the kids who are just genuinely good to the core," said Sam Scholes, PTA president at Lehi Elementary. "They’re friends to everyone. They’re kind. They’re helpful. They’re happy."
The students had no idea they were being honored at an assembly last month. Their parents were even in on the surprise, and showed up for the celebration.
“I think it’s great. I’m very thankful for it,” said student Aizlee Keele.
Sawyer Scholes was pleasantly surprised.
“I heard them say my name and I thought, 'I got nominated?'”
The students were gifted T-shirts to remind them of their good work. Teachers said they're hoping the students' good deeds will inspire others to do the same. Related stories:
